DO be brief, but informed
DO respond to a recent article in the publication
DO follow the paper or magazine's submission guidelines (see above for local publication's guidlines)
DO focus on one topic
DO highlight how the audience/readers will be affected by the issue
DO inform the audience how they can get involved (join LOBA!)
DO use factual data to support your points
DO take the time to verify facts you provide
DO spell and grammar check your letter
DON'T send your email letter as an attachment or include any other attachments
DON'T insult, exaggerate or use vulgar language
DON'T use bold font or all caps to emphasize a word or phrase
